Can Philadelphia Phillies Return To World Series This Season?
The Philadelphia Phillies have had a quiet offseason, and while the team has more than enough to win it all, the front office's decision to not add an impact player could hurt them.
Other National League teams got better.
Another year of the Atlanta Braves playing together should have them even more dangerous than they were last season. As Spring Training starts, the Phillies, Braves, and Los Angeles Dodgers look to be the top three teams in the NL.
Atlanta didn't make a huge move either, while the Dodgers arguably had the best offseason in baseball history.
With the moves that Los Angeles made, can Philadelphia run the same team back and win it all this time around?
Todd Zolecki of MLB.com writes that the one storyline for this Phillies team heading into Spring Training is if they can win a World Series title.
The insider adds that the team believes they can be as good, or better, than they were in 2023. Another year under their belt, Trea Turner playing better for an entire season, and Bryce Harper ready at the beginning of the season should have Philadelphia get off to a much better start.
Due to their slow start, the Phillies couldn't get much going and were chasing the Braves all season.
However, the regular season doesn't matter much for this team and everyone on the roster understands that. Philadelphia will be judged by what they do in the postseason, even if they win 100-plus games and the NL East.
Dave Dombrowski's track record shows that if a deal becomes available that can help the roster, he's going to make it. If the Phillies need that, expect him to do just that during the season.
