Philadelphia Phillies' Star Returned After Injury Scare to Play Important Role in Win

The Philadelphia Phillies got an important win and they did it with the help of one of their star players after he returned following an injury scare on Tuesday.

After the Philadelphia Phillies' offense was brutal on Tuesday when they were shutout in a 3-0 loss, they did just enough to get an important victory that brought them back to .500 on the season.

They earned their second series win in a row and will now get an off day before starting a four-game slate against their instate opponents, the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Friday.

It should be a highly-anticipated matchup as the Pirates have been red-hot with a 9-3 record to start the season. The Phillies will debut their new City Connect uniforms on this day as well, something that will be worn at home every Friday for the remainder of the year.

Philadelphia looked like they might have gotten their offense back a bit during the early portion of the finale against the St. Louis Cardinals as they scored a run on an error by the center fielder that allowed Alec Bohm to drive in another.

But, many of the same issues persisted as they left 10 runners on base and went 4-10 with runners in scoring position, including leaving the bases loaded.

The star of the game for the Phillies was Aaron Nola. He went six innings and only gave up two runs on three hits.

Nola was able to navigate this outing with Philadelphia's star catcher J.T. Realmuto behind the plate after it looked like he might miss some time because of an injury scare on Tuesday night that caused him to leave the game.

Realmuto is extremely important to this pitching staff, and they needed him calling this contest in a bad way to get Nola and the Phillies back on track. He also brought it at the plate, getting two hits in his five at-bats.

Him missing time would have been a nightmare situation for Philadelphia, so it was great to see the star catcher back and playing a huge part in this team earning a win.
