Texas Rangers Win Streak Snapped As Dodgers Pummel Bullpen

Left-hander Andrew Heaney has struggled to put together consecutive solid starts for nearly two months and that trend continued Friday against the Dodgers.

Heaney was charged with four runs on five hits and three walks in five innings. Freddie Freeman was on three times against Heaney, including a two-run double in the third and a solo homer in the fifth.

The last time Heaney had consecutive quality starts was May 27 when he held the Orioles to a run in seven innings. That came six days after he allowed no earned runs in six innings against the Rockies. Since those starts, Heaney hasn't gone deeper than 5 2/3 innings.

Corey Seager hit some huge home runs in his seven seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, including in the 2020 World Series, which they won at Globe Life Field during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the first time Friday night, he hit a huge homer against them. His solo homer in the sixth gave the Rangers a temporary 5-4 lead in his first game against his former team. Seager also doubled in the eighth and finished the game 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a walk.

Seagers was named the World Series MVP after batting .400 with two homers and five RBI. He signed with Texas as a free agent before the 2022 season.

Travis Jankowski recorded first-career sacrifice fly when he drove in Adolis Garcia with fly out to left in the fourth inning.

Rangers right-hander Dane Dunning (8-2, 2.82) faces Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller (5-1, 4.25) in Game 2 at 3:05 p.m. Saturday at Globe Life Field.
