Texas Rangers Sweep Marlins For Perfect Six-Game Homestand

The Rangers hit four home runs in the game. First up was Nathaniel Lowe, who hit a two-run shot in the third inning to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead. Next was Marcus Semien, who led off the fifth inning with a solo shot to push the Rangers' lead to 4-0. In the sixth, Ezequiel Duran led off with a solo home run to make it 5-0. Then, in the eighth, Adolis García hit a leadoff home run to dead center field that went an estimated 444 feet. 

Duran entered the game after third baseman Josh Jung suffered a left thumb contusion trying to field a Jorge Soler line drive in the fifth inning. 

Semien and García were the only Rangers hitter with two hits as they sent Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara (4-10) to double-digit losses for the season.

Andrew Heaney (9-6) won his second straight start, and his third in four starts, after going 5 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and two walks. He struck out four. He didn't give up a run, and he pushed his scoreless inning streak to 15 2/3 innings, which is a career best. 

Chris Stratton replaced him in the sixth with two out and got the next four outs. José Leclerc worked a scoreless eighth inning without giving up a baserunner and Martín Pérez, recently removed from the starting rotation, made his first relief appearance since Oct. 3, 2021, in the ninth inning. 

The Rangers leave after the game to start a six-game road trip on the West Coast, beginning with Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics. It will be the Rangers' final visit to Oakland this season. The Rangers are expected to start right-hander Dane Dunning (9-4, 3.14) and the Athletics are scheduled to go with left-hander Ken Waldichuk (2-7, 6.52). First pitch is expected at 8:40 p.m. CT.
