76ers Tyrese Maxey Continues to be one of NBA's Top Fourth Quarter Scorers

Sixers All-Star comes alive in final quarter to secure win over Cavaliers.

Over the course of this season, the emergence of Tyrese Maxey has been one of the biggest storylines for the Philadelphia 76ers. One of the key components of his breakout campaign is his ability to come alive down the stretch of games.

All season, Maxey has been near the top when it comes to fourth quarter scoring. His production in the final period is one par with stars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry. On Friday night, Maxey came up big in the fourth to help lead the Sixers to a win.

Following their loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday night, the Sixers were back on their home floor for the second leg of a back-to-back. This time, they'd be facing off against a Donovan Mitchell-less Cleveland Cavaliers team.

Maxey struggled for most of the game, but still managed to come up big when it matter. The Sixers were within striking distance down the stretch, and their All-Star guard got them over the hump.

In total, Maxey finished with 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. However, 15 of those 24 came in just the fourth quarter. This late surge from Maxey allowed the Sixers to beat the Cavaliers by a final score of 104-97.

Joel Embiid has said on multiple occasions that he looks for Maxey late in games, and performances like this are a testament why. Even on a night when things weren't going his way, the young guard delivered when it mattered.

Coming off their victory over the Cavs, the Sixers are off on Saturday before taking the floor again Sunday. Next up is a matchup against an array of familiar faces in the Milwaukee Bucks.
