Nick Nurse Provides Update on De'Anthony Melton

Nick Nurse shares his concerns following De'Anthony Melton's early exit in Boston.

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers travelled to TD Garden as they looked to salvage something from their season series against the Boston Celtics, which has proven to be quite the challenge so far.

While Tyrese Maxey did his best to lift the Sixers above the Celtics, dropping 32 points on 50 percent from the field, it wasn't enough.

All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown erupted for a combined 60 points and nine assists, which would help the host's take the match, 117-99.

Elsewhere on the court for Joe Mazzulla, Kristaps Porzingus made his impact felt on both ends of the court, scoring 23 points while securing 12 rebounds.

While the Latvian giant proved to be a defensive asset, the same could be said for De'Anthony Melton, who managed to record a block and rebound.

Granted both of these stats would happen purely in the first half as the 25-year-old left the game at half time due to back spasms.

Melton's latest back injury comes as he was merely three games into his return from a month long stint on the bench due to a stress response in his lower spine.

Following Tuesday's loss, Nick Nurse express that the Sixers are concerned regarding the 25-year-old's well being, especially given the progress made to get him back on the court over the past month.

"We're certainly concerned that it's the same thing because we've taken a lot of time off to try to get it to a position of a better place," Nurse told reporters.

While Nurse wasn't able to provide any further update on Melton, he'll have two days before his next match on Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.

In recent times, Nurse has opted to use Cameron Payne, Kelly Oubre Jr, Kyle Lowry, and Ricky Council to help fill the 25-year-old's shoes.
