Oklahoma City Thunder Star Downgraded With Injury vs. Sixers

The Oklahoma City Thunder could roll without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

In their battle against the Western Conference’s top dogs, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Philadelphia 76ers might not face the team in its entirety.

According to OKC’s injury report, the Thunder have downgraded their star guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, as he’s dealing with a quad contusion. As a result, he is considered questionable for Tuesday’s game.

Over the years, Gilgeous-Alexander has developed into one of the NBA’s most intriguing young prospects. As he was the focal point of OKC’s trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, which involved the All-Star Paul George, Gilgeous-Alexander was a name to watch for the future.

As the Thunder are now thriving as a unit, Gilgeous-Alexander’s stock as a player has never been higher. These days, he’s garnering potential MVP recognition as he continues to lead the Thunder through one of their most successful seasons in quite some time.

Lately, Gilgeous-Alexander has spent some time off the court for OKC. After putting together a 38-minute showing against the New Orleans Pelicans on March 26, the veteran guard missed the Thunder’s next two games against the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns.

On March 31, Gilgeous-Alexander returned to the floor to take on the New York Knicks. In what became a tight game, the Thunder managed to squeeze out a one-point victory at Madison Square Garden, Gilgeous-Alexander appeared on the court for 35 minutes. During that time, he scored 19 points on 44 percent shooting.

When the Thunder took on the Sixers back in late November, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points, six rebounds, and five assists while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. As good as SGA was from a solo standpoint, the Sixers made it out of OKC with a four-point win.

Gilgeous-Alexander will be a name to keep an eye on Tuesday, as his status against the Sixers is up in the air.

The Sixers and the Thunder are set for a 7:30 PM ET tip-off on Tuesday.
