Sixers’ G League Standout Drops 41 in Playoff Defeat
Philadelphia 76ers' Jeff Dowtin put together a major performance in the Blue Coats' playoff loss.
On Thursday night, the Delaware Blue Coats continued their playoff journey as they took on the first seed in the Eastern Conference, the Maine Celtics.
Their matchup against the Celtics came after an enthralling 123-101 victory against the Indiana Mad Ants', in which two-way stars Ricky Council IV and Jeff Dowtin would shine as the partnership combined for 52 points.
Delaware would need their offensive energy if they wish to redeem themselves from their shaky performances against Maine in the regular season, where they failed to pick up a single win after they got beat in back-to-back performances in March.
To their credit, both of the aforementioned two-way stars would more than deliver for Mike Longabardi's side, as Council would drop 31 points on 46 percent, managing to once again be a source on the defensive end of the court, converting three steals and securing five rebounds.
But the core of Delaware's offense would come from Dowtin, who would put on a thrilling performance, scoring 41 points on a lethal 66 percent accuracy from the field, which includes four makes from beyond the arc.
The Sixers' G League standout wouldn't just be a threat with the ball in his hands, as he managed to dish out eight assists while converting four steals and blocking two shots. Despite these efforts, the Blue Coats would fall short to the Celtics, 112-119, bringing their season to a close.
While the regular season is done for the bulk of the roster, it will give Dowtin, Council, and Terquavion Smith the opportunity to resume their journeys with the Sixers as the end of the NBA's regular season draws closer and closer.
