Sixers' Joel Embiid Debuts New Sneakers in Return vs. OKC Thunder
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has a new signature sneaker.
After being out of action for two months with a knee injury, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has made his return to action. While he was originally listed as out, the reigning MVP was upgraded in time to take the floor against the OKC Thunder.
As the Sixers were getting ready to tip off against the Thunder, news broke of Embiid securing a new deal. That being an endorsement deal with Skechers. The Sixers star used to partner with the Under Armour brand, but now has a multi-year deal with Skechers to be the face of their NBA division.
Along with landing this new deal, Embiid is already showcasing his new partnership. He was seen wearing Skechers shoes for the first time in an NBA game Tuesday.
Over the past few years, Embiid has cemented himself as one of the top stars in the NBA. He finally secured the MVP award last year, and looked well on his way to another this season. However, injuries ended up derailing what was on pace to be a historic offensive year. Before getting injured against the Golden State Warriors on January 30th, Embiid was averaging 35.3 PPG, 11.3 RPG, and 5.7 APG.
Now back from injury, Embiid has only two weeks to get himself ready physically for the postseason. Following the Sixers’ matchup with the Thunder, they have just six games remaining on their regular season schedule.
Following the news of his new shoe deal, the All-Star center will be sporting a new brand moving forward.
