Trio of Previously Injured 76ers Fully Participate in Practice Wednesday
Heading into the All-Star break, the Philadelphia 76ers were dealing with a litany of injuries. With a few days to recover without games being played, the team looks like its getting closer to full strength.
Before getting back in action Thursday, the Sixers held practice on Wednesday afternoon. While speaking with reporters after, head coach Nick Nurse provided updates on a handful of members of the supporting cast.
De'Anthony Melton, Tobias Harris, and Nic Batum all fully participated in practice Wednesday after dealing with injuries in recent weeks. Kyle Lowry was also active after signing with the Sixers following his buyout from the Charlotte Hornets. Robert Covington was among those who did not partake in practice.
Melton has been out of action for some time now as he continues to deal with a back injury. The last time he took the floor for the Sixers was on January 12th against the Sacramento Kings. Before getting injured, the veteran guard was averaging 11.8 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 3.2 APG.
Batum has been a key standout for the Sixers after coming over in the James Harden trade. However, a calf injury caused him to miss the last nine games leading up to the All-Star break. Before being sidelined, Batum 5.7 PPG and shooting a stellar 45.4% from beyond the arc.
Over the past month, Harris had constantly be in and out of the lineup for various reasons. He missed the last two games before the break, but appears ready to return to action for the final stretch.
With the chance to get a full practice under his belt, the door is open for Lowry to make his debut against the New York Knicks Thursday.
