Two Former 76ers Exchange Social Media Blows Over Doc Rivers
On Tuesday morning, former Philadelphia 76ers guard JJ Redick made waves wit his comments about Doc Rivers. He went on a viscous tirade about his former coach lacking accountability amid his recent struggles. Since taking over as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, the team has a record of 3-10.
Redick went on this tangent because Rivers recently opened up on how tough it's been taking over as coach mid-season.
Redick spent four seasons playing under Rivers during his time with the LA Clippers. Many have spoken out about this remarks, with Patrick Beverley being the most notable. The recent Sixers guard blasted Redick for talking about Rivers like this when he saved his career.
Redick did not let this post sit long without responding. He let the current Bucks guard now that his career was far from nearing an end when he joined the Clippers. Redick also let him know he had multiple offers on the table when he decided to go to LA.
Beverley likely opted to get in on this to come to the defense of his head coach. At the trade deadline, he saw himself moved from the Sixers to Milwaukee in exchange for Cam Payne. While he stated earlier in the year that he didn't want to be moved, Beverley has embraced the change. Getting to play under one of his former head coaches again likely played a factor in this.
Following his stint with the Clippers, Redick was still a highly productive player in the NBA. He had some of his highest scoring seasons with the Sixers, averaging over 18 PPG in 2019. Redick decided to hang it up for good in 2021 and transition to a career in broadcasting.
Beverley has appeared in four games for the Milwaukee Bucks since being traded. In that time, he is posting averages of 3.8 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 2.5 APG.
