Tyrese Maxey Crashes Sixers Teammate’s Postgame Interview

Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey takes over De'Anthony Melton's interview.

After getting a night off on Tuesday, Philadelphia 76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey went to work by taking over and conducting an interview with his teammate, De’Anthony Melton.

Putting on his journalism hat for a night, Maxey grabbed hold of the mic and asked some questions to Melton, who returned to action for the first time since January.

“How did it feel to be back out there today, Mr. Do Something?”

Although Melton started the year off as a starter, the veteran guard saw limited action off the bench on Tuesday night against the Detroit Pistons.

In 16 minutes of action, Melton attempted nine shots from the field. He hit on just two of his attempts, with one of them coming from beyond the arc. He scored five points and produced three assists on the offensive end.

Defensively, Melton came down with three rebounds, and snatched two steals.

It wasn’t a super productive performance, but it was a great opportunity for the veteran guard to get back out on the floor and shake off some rust.

“Man, it felt good,” Melton claimed.

“It felt good just to run around with my teammates, get some shots up, and play some defense. I’m happy,” he added.

Before Melton went out with a back injury, he started in 31 games for Philadelphia. He’s struggled with his shooting throughout the early stages of the year, but he still scored 12 points per game, while producing three assists. Defensively, of course, Melton was a major helping hand for Philadelphia on the perimeter.

If all goes well, Melton should be back for the remainder of the Sixers’ regular season, and whatever comes next beyond that. While he might not find himself back in the starting lineup, Melton is likely to have a reserve role.
