Tyrese Maxey’s Official Playing Status for Sixers vs. OKC Thunder

Will Tyrese Maxey suit up for the Philadelphia 76ers against the OKC Thunder?

As the final stretch of the 2023-2024 NBA season approaches, the Philadelphia 76ers hope to get their key pieces back in the mix before they attempt to take on another playoff run.

Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder will be a stiff challenge for the Sixers, who are looking to improve their chances of making it out of Play-In territory in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately for Philly, their initial injury report wasn’t promising. As expected, two key role players have been ruled out once again, as Robert Covington and De’Anthony Melton were ruled out in advance.

On a brighter note, Joel Embiid could return as he's been upgraded to questionable.

But beyond those players, the Sixers also downgraded the status of the All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey. Lately, Maxey’s been dealing with hip tightness. His recent setback popped up when the Sixers prepared for their Sunday night matchup against the Toronto Raptors.

At the time, Maxey was considered a game-time decision for Philadelphia. He was ruled out before the Sixers battled it out with their division rival. While Maxey-less, the Sixers found success. Despite being in the midst of a three-game losing streak, the Sixers took down the struggling Raptors with a 15-point victory.

Maxey attempted to make a return on Tuesday night by going through a routine pregame warmup. While his setback is not a significant concern, the young guard has been ruled out again.

The Sixers are set to tip-off with the Thunder at 7:30 PM ET on Tuesday.
