Tyrese Maxey Reacts to Sixers' Latest Roster Move

Tyrese Maxey rushed to social media to react to the Philadelphia 76ers' recent roster move.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Philadelphia 76ers are still making changes to the roster. With the deadline for players to be playoff eligible rapidly approaching, the team made a decision regarding one of its two-way players.

During the stretch where the roster was heavily depleted due to injury, Ricky Council IV was a player thrust into a rotation spot. The young forward performed well in this stretch, and has now been rewarded for his efforts.

If the Sixers wanted Council eligible for the playoffs, they had to sign him to a standard NBA contract before Sunday. That is now no longer an issue as reports emerged that he has agreed to a four-year deal worth $7.4 million.

As the news broke on this deal, Sixers fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the move. Among those excited by the deal was Tyrese Maxey, who made a post of his own. The All-Star guard stated that Council’s new contract was more than deserved.

Council has appeared in 31 games for the Sixers in the regular season. In that time, he averaged 5.5 PPG and 1.4 RPG while shooting just under league average from beyond the arc.

This contract comes fresh off one of Council’s best performances of the season. He did a little bit of everything in the overtime thriller with the San Antonio Spurs last week. In 22 minutes off the bench, Council posted 11 points, two rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

With this contract, the Sixers now have the impressive prospect locked up at a team-friendly price. It also gives Nick Nurse the option to deploy the athletic forward in the playoffs if needed.
