Watch: 76ers Tyrese Maxey Airs Grievance With 'Mayor' Tyrese Haliburton
Over the weekend, Philadelphia 76ers guard competed in his first All-Star weekend. Before the game itself on Sunday night, he aired a grievance with a key player from the host city.
While gearing up in the locker room, Maxey struck up a friendly conversation with Tyrese Haliburton, who had the locker next to his. The Sixers guard went on to complain about the traffic, saying that he should get people to move as the 'mayor.'
"What's up with the traffic in Indy? You said there was no traffic," Maxey said. "You the mayor, tell them to move."
Maxey was named a reserve for the Eastern Conference following his breakout campaign with the Sixers this year. Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the 23-year-old guard is averaging 25.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 6.4 APG. Joel Embiid was also named an All-Star, but was later replaced due to injury.
In his first ever All-Star game, Maxey got to take part in history. The Eastern Conference finished with 211 points, the most scored by a team in a single game. Maxey logged 17 minutes off the bench Sunday and finished with 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Representing the host city, Haliburton did everything in his power to steal the show in front of his home crowd. The Pacers star hit a barrage of threes early on en route to finishing with 32 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. However, Damian Lillard (39 points) ended up being named All-Star MVP.
With the All-Star break in the rearview now, Maxey must shift his focus back to the Sixers. He'll be called upon to lead the charge as Embiid continues to recover from a knee injury.
