Watch: Knicks Josh Hart Taunts Cavaliers Star Donovan Mitchell After Big Shot
The Cleveland Cavaliers may be under new ownership.
After knocking the Cleveland out of the first round of the playoffs five games last April, the New York Knicks continued their ownage of the Wine and Gold, Sunday.
The shorthanded Knickerbockers disposed of the Cavs 107-98 in what is their final meeting in the regular season for this year. It was the latest round of embarrassment for Cleveland, who was playing without Donovan Mitchell due to a knee injury.
The Cavs star still found himself involved in the action though, but not the way he wanted to.
After Knicks guard Josh Hart knocked down a clutch three pointer to all but bury the Cavs late in the fourth quarter, the 28-year-old quickly turned around and taunted Mitchell but toying with his chain as he passed by. As expected, the miffed Cavaliers fan base that felt Hart disrespected Mitchell.
Hart dropped 13 points in the win, while shooting three-of-six from long range. He also out-hustled Cleveland to the beat of 19 rebounds and added 10 assists for a triple-double. His efforts were obviously critical in propelling New York to victory as it's now won five of the last six regular season meeting with the Cavs, on top of the lopsided 4-1 playoff series win last spring.
Hart's actions tell a bigger story of the recent history between these two teams, which has heavily favored New York.
As things stand right now in the Eastern Conference standings the team's are not slayed to face off in a first round rematch. At 39-21, the Cavs are the current three seed, with the Knicks one spot behind them as the four seed.
