BREAKING: Memphis Grizzlies Unexpectedly Trade Veteran Player

The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly traded Steven Adams

In what may be the most unexpected news of the day, the Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly trading Steven Adams to the Houston Rockets.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, the Memphis Grizzlies are trading Steven Adams to the Houston Rockets for Victor Oladipo and three second-round picks.

Wojnarowski stated that the deal will create more salary flexibility and draft assets for the 2024 offseason, where the Grizzlies hope to draft a high lottery pick and be a contender with all of their key players healthy. The Houston Rockets are hoping to have Steven Adams healthy to start the season and be a perfect complement to Alperen Sengun.

While the Grizzlies were going to struggle to pay Adams next season, it's going to be interesting to see how their big-man rotation will work. When they lost Adams last season, it was very clearly one of the biggest reasons why the Grizzlies lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Adams was one of the best offensive rebounders and general rebounders in the NBA and was a tremendous anchor for the Grizzlies. That type of game isn't exactly Jaren Jackson Jr.'s forte, so it'll be very tough to replace that.

The Memphis Grizzlies aren't exactly punting this season, but it seems very clear that they're already gearing up for the next one.
