Grizzlies Rookie Joins Kevin Durant on Historic List
The Memphis Grizzlies may found a potential diamond in GG Jackson. The young 19-year-old rookie first made waves when he had a breakout performance against the Golden State Warriors that earned him an interview on TNT.
Since then, Jackson has continued to perform at a fantastic level and has even made some history along the way. According to a stat by Shawn Coleman, GG Jackson is the youngest player in NBA history to produce 100+ points, and 20+ threes in a single month since Kevin Durant in the 2007-2008 season.
In the month of January, GG Jackson averaged 10.6 points a game and 3.6 rebounds, on 51/46/73 shooting. Despite all of the ridiculous amount of injuries, the Memphis Grizzlies have a 5-6 record in the games that Jackson has played in January. This includes wins against the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors, and Dallas Mavericks. All things considered, that's actually a very good month for the Memphis Grizzlies, and they owe much of that success to the development of GG Jackson.
If there's one silver lining that the Grizzlies can have this season, it's that they've been able to develop some of their young players that they wouldn't have otherwise. Everything that Memphis is building right now will only make them a more dangerous team for next season, with a ton of assets to use.
