NBA Legend Proposes Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, Aaron Gordon, Mac McClung Dunk Contest
There has been a lot of discussion about how the NBA can revive the Dunk Contest - and in many ways, All-Star Weekend in general. The Dunk Contest was especially underwhelming this year, and seems to be running out of ways to improve.
While Mac McClung is incredible, and put on another great show, there is very little that hasn't already been done before. This isn't an indictment on the dunkers themselves, but is one of the reasons the competition has felt less exciting over time.
Another reason many feel uninterested in the Dunk Contest is the lack of name recognition. While there are not many superstars who would project to perform well in a Dunk Contest setting, there are some names who fans would really want to see. During a recent segment of FanDuel's Run it Back show, NBA legend Lou Williams proposed his dream Dunk Contest scenario.
"I'm going to manifest this," Williams said. "I want to see a healthy Zach LaVine back in it, I would like to see Aaron Gordon come back, Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, and Mac McClung."
While Gordon declared his retirement from the contest several years ago, he and LaVine have arguably the greatest Dunk Contest battle in the history of the competition. Morant and Williamson are two players fans have long expressed interest in seeing in the Dunk Contest, and McClung is of course the back-to-back champion.
