The Atlanta Hawks can be commended for their effort against the Boston Celtics throughout the first two games of the first-round playoff series. Unfortunately, Atlanta's best still has not been good enough.
The 2-seed Celtics have flexed their defensive muscle, essentially neutralizing Trae Young. On the other end of the floor, Atlanta's already-shaky perimeter defense cannot stop the trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White.
As the series shifts back to Atlanta, the Hawks face a must-win Game 3. In order to pull off the upset, Young must return to his old self. The floor general has been unrecognizable through three games, shooting 35% from the field and 23.1% from deep.
Winning four out of the next five games is a near-impossibility for Atlanta, but avoiding a sweep would provide a much-needed boost as the franchise enters a pivotal offseason sure to bring change.
