Brooklyn Nets Beat Atlanta Hawks 124-107
Summary
Friday night's highly anticipated matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks went out with a whimper. Despite the heavy playoff implications, one of the teams (guess who) barely showed up for the game. Brooklyn easily defeated Atlanta 124-107.
Trae Young struggled immensely on both sides of the floor, netting a game-worst -33 plus/minus. Young tallied just ten points on 3-12 (25%) shooting with six assists. Atanta's offensive problems extended beyond their point guard, as the team hit just 8-37 (21.6%) of their three-point attempts.
Not only is Atlanta's offense unreliable, but their perimeter defense has proven to be broken beyond repair. Brooklyn shot an impressive 55.7% from the field and 45.5% from deep. Mikal Bridges led the way with 42 points.
After tonight's game, Atlanta will sink even lower in the standings. With a record of 38-39, they will be passed up by the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, Brooklyn improves to 42-35 and adds some distance between themselves and the seventh-seed Miami Heat.
Following tonight's game, the Hawks fly home for an early practice on Saturday morning. Their next game is Sunday evening against the equally-desperate Dallas Mavericks at State Farm Arena.
