We are down to the final two games of the NBA regular season, and the postseason picture is taking shape. The Philadelphia 76ers are locked into the 3-seed, while the Atlanta Hawks will most likely end up at the eighth or ninth seed.
Of course, tonight's game means more to Atlanta than it does to Philadelphia. Atlanta is still jockeying for position in the Play-In Tournament and cannot afford to lose. They have won three straight games but are far from out of the woods.
These two teams faced off three times within three weeks back in November and haven't crossed paths since. Atlanta's front office and coaching staff have since changed, but many of the team's problems same problems still exist.
Atlanta ranks 22nd in defensive rating, most of which can be blamed on their backcourt. Meanwhile, Philadelphia is one of the top three most efficient teams in the league.
Given Philadelphia's propensity for playing within the halfcourt offense, Atlanta must push the pace tonight. But executing against a legitimate championship contender is always easier said than done.
