Terry Rozier's Comfort With Miami Heat Growing With Each Game
It's more than just about numbers for Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier.
For him, the main goal is continuing the acclimation process. Rozier has done that so far during his six games with the Heat.
He had 15 points on just 2 of 13 shooting but impacted Friday's victory against the Washington Wizards by making 11 of 11 free throws.
"As long as he's contributing to winning," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "The last two games, he's really contributed to the win. It will take whatever it takes for him to get to his full offensive rhythm but in the meantime, impact the game, impact the win and that's what he's doing."
Rozier is averaging 10.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds thus far. The idea is for him to become another player to take the scoring load off forward Jimmy Butler. Last year the Heat relied too heavily on Butler, especially during the playoffs when guard Tyler Herro was sidelined with a broken wrist.
Now, the Heat have three players, including Bam Adebayo, who can score 20 points on any night.
"He has an ability to play off the ball, on the ball, to get to the basket," Spoelstra said of Rozier. "He can draw some fouls, create something really out of not a whole lot ... You could see the possibilities with Terry. He's a guy to a fault, he wants to fit in, he wants to complement. Once he gets comfortable, these are the shots that he's made a name for over the course of his career, in particular the last two or three years."
