Spread & Over/Under Predictions: Hornets at Magic

Picks for today's game.

Each game day, we at All Hornets will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of Charlotte Hornets games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Magic -6.5

3 Star play on the Magic (-6.5): With Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier both finally in the lineup together, the Hornets have more firepower than they have all season. With that said though, the Magic are a team that causes significant problems for opponents with their defense.

One area to key in on is that the Hornets rely on screen assists for their points more than any team in the NBA except for the Warriors. Without the 3-point shooting to back it up, Charlotte becomes extremely vulnerable to Orlando's ability to switch with ease defensively due to the outstanding length on the roster. If the Hornets are going to steal one on the road, they are going to have to play extremely physically and hit the boards with great efficiency. The door is absolutely open for this one, but Orlando and their six-straight wins have a more cohesive game plan at this point.

Over/Under: 227.5

3 Star play on the under: This relatively lower total is heavily influenced by the Magic, as only three of Charlotte's 14 games played this season have been under this line. Neither team shoots particularly well from range, but the Magic can afford this because of their league-best 106.8 defensive rating. Mix in the fact that neither team plays with a notably fast pace, and the under seems like the way to go for this one.
