Miller to Face Wemby & Scoot to Begin NBA Career
The games won't count but for Charlotte Hornets fans, the Summer League games will mean something.
A big portion of the fanbase was upset when the team selected Brandon Miller with the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, passing on Scoot Henderson, who went one pick later to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Miller and the Hornets will take part in the California Classic where they will go up against the San Antonio Spurs and No. 1 overall pick, Victor Wembanyama. They'll also see the Golden State Warriors in the event.
Just a few days after the California Classic, the Hornets and Spurs will meet again in the first game of the NBA2K24 Summer League on July 7th. A few days later, all eyes will be on the Hornets once again as they square off against Scoot and the Blazers on July 11th at 8:30 p.m. EST on NBA TV.
I'm sure during the course of these matchups, particularly against the Blazers, Hornets fans may overreact if Scoot outperforms Miller. Just keep in mind, these guys are only going to be a couple weeks removed from the draft and will have a lot to learn in that timeframe. Henderson has been facing professional level players for the past two years in the G League, so he may be more prepared than Miller and that's okay. The season is still months away.
