Donovan Mitchell Scores 36 in Victory over Boston Celtics
The Utah Jazz improved to 20-5 on Tuesday with a 122-108 victory over the Boston Celtics. The win, which was broadcast nationally on TNT, tied the best start for the Jazz in franchise history. Donovan Mitchell led all scorers on Tuesday night with 36 points on 12/23 shooting.
You might recall Shaq's comments the last time the Jazz played on TNT - Shaq told Mitchell in his postgame interview that he did not believe he was a superstar.
On Tuesday, when Mitchell had 9 assists to go along with his 36 points, Shaq claimed his words motivated Mitchell to take the next step. Unfortunately for Shaq, the numbers don't back his claim:
Shaq's comments aside, Mitchell was fantastic against the Celtics. When Boston was cut into the lead in the fourth quarter, Mitchell put the game away with a handful of threes down the stretch.
Joe Ingles added 24 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds against the Celtics. He was especially effective with Rudy Gobert in the pick & roll. Gobert, who was +23 on the night, had another double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
