Jazz-Mavericks Injury Report: Clarkson, Kyrie, Markkanen Status
Across their most recent stretch of games, the Utah Jazz have been victim to the injury bug. Headlined by their All-Star Lauri Markkanen missing some time due to a hamstring strain, along with second-year center Walker Kessler suffering an early season elbow sprain, it’s forced Will Hardy to make a few adjustments to the lineup.
We’ve seen the likes of Simone Fontecchio and Omer Yurtseven enter into the starting five to create some interesting lineup combos, and it looks like those may have to continue during Wednesday night’s game vs. the Dallas Mavericks.
The Jazz and Mavericks both released their injury report for the matchup, each listing a few key inactives for the game.
Utah Jazz:
Lauri Markkanen- OUT (hamstring)
Jordan Clarkson- OUT (thigh)
Kelly Olynyk- OUT (shoulder)
Brice Sensabaugh- OUT (G-League)
Johnny Juzang- OUT (G-League)
Micah Potter- OUT (G-League)
Josh Christopher- OUT (G-League)
Dallas Mavericks:
Kyrie Irving- QUESTIONABLE (foot)
Grant Williams- QUESTIONABLE (knee)
Tim Hardaway Jr.- QUESTIONABLE (back)
Josh Green- OUT (elbow)
Maxi Kleber- OUT (toe)
The status of All-Star guard Kyrie Irving remains up in the air, but if he’s sidelined for this one, it presents a massive opportunity for the Jazz to capitalize on a win. However, a matchup against Luka Doncic is far from a cakewalk. The Mavericks have started the 2023-24 season off with an 11-8 record, good enough for 1st in the Southwest Division.
The Jazz will have the opportunity to secure their second-straight win on Wednesday at 6:30 PM MT.
