We now sit just over a month until the long-awaited NBA trade deadline hits, and the rumor mill keeps churning. Many teams around the league will be scavenging the market to find some late contributors to help their hopeful championship push across the coming weeks. Of the many expected to receive some calls, the Utah Jazz seem to be gaining some intrigue.

According to a report from Ben Anderson at KSL Sports, the Jazz have seen a ‘robust trade market’ surrounding their veteran big, Kelly Olynyk. After spending the past two seasons with Utah, it seems contending teams around the league have some interest in acquiring him ahead of February’s cutoff:

"First, I’ve been told that Kelly Olynyk has had the most robust trade market among teams calling the Jazz to see who is available...Olynyk is a battle-tested veteran who can get real rotation minutes in the playoffs, has an outstanding basketball IQ, can play multiple roles, and is on an expiring contract of just over $12 million...I look at the Boston Celtics, the Denver Nuggets, the New York Knicks, and the Miami Heat as playoff teams that could shore up their frontcourt in hopes of making a deep postseason run."

In 32 games this season, Olynyk has averaged 8.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists a night. He’s also putting up some historic numbers in the efficiency department, posting incredible 55.9/41.0/90.0 splits. Kelly can be the ideal fit as a rotational big for multiple suitors by providing great size, spacing, and facilitating ability.

Per Anderson’s report, teams like the Celtics, Nuggets, Knicks, and Heat could be pinned as fits for the 11-year NBA vet. Coincidentally, Olynyk previously spent time in Boston for his first four seasons in the league, as well as being stationed in Miami for the three and a half years after that.

If the Jazz can get a decent return for Olynyk’s expiring contract, it might be a move CEO Danny Ainge finds too hard to pass up. While KO has played a critical role for Utah across their most recent hot streak, you would hate to lose out on him for nothing during this summer’s free agency period.

Keep a close eye on Olynyk ahead of the forthcoming trade deadline, with potential movement on the horizon.
