Kings vs Grizzlies Injury Report Revealed in Pivotal Road Game
The Sacramento Kings are looking to close 2023 with a win over the Memphis Grizzlies at the end of a three-game road trip that saw them rally back to take down the Atlanta Hawks after a poor start. The 18-12 Kings have gone through a lackluster two weeks but could be poised to take down the 10-21 Grizzlies, who have the disadvantage of a less healthy team.
The Kings have been highly linked to numerous trades in the league, all of which involve G Kevin Huerter, F Harrison Barnes, and G Davion Mitchell. With these players on the hot seat, they will have to perform strongly against a team that is 4-1 since the return of G Ja Morant from a 25-game suspension.
Kings-Grizzlies Injury Report 12/31
Kings:
G Kevin Huerter - QUESTIONABLE (hand)
Grizzlies:
G Derrick Rose - QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)
G John Konchar - QUESTIONABLE (illness)
G Luke Kennard - QUESTIONABLE (knee)
F Brandon Clarke - OUT (Achilles)
C Steven Adams - OUT (knee)
Kings' Huerter participated in a shootaround ahead of Sunday night's game according to Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee. Assuming Huerter plays, we may see a change to the lineup after he and Barnes were benched in the Kings' game against the Hawks, playing a combined 22 minutes. The two have struggled recently for the Kings while others have stepped up. While both have shown they have what it takes, the lack of consistency ultimately puts them in the hot seat.
Grizzlies' Derrick Rose has been out since December 15 with a hamstring injury but is questionable. If he returns Sunday night, it would be the first time Rose and Morant take the floor as teammates.
Luke Kennard has remained out since his last game on November 14 due to a left knee bone bruise. Kennard could return Sunday, but if he does, there is a good chance his minutes will be limited as he eases back into playing.
Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke have remained out all season. Clarke is expected to return around the All-Star Break in February after suffering an Achilles injury. Adams is out for the season after rehabilitation on his right knee was unsuccessful in the pre-season.
While the Grizzlies have a weak record, they are not a team to take lightly, especially with the return of Ja Morant. The Kings are looking to close out the year strong with a statement road win before heading back to Golden 1 Center to open the new year.
The game is set to tip off at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
