Heat vs. Knicks Prediction, Injuries & Odds: NBA Playoffs Game 5, 5/10
Over the past two games, every time it has appeared that the Knicks were going to make things competitive, Miami has simply been better. Whether it be key shots (especially a three-pointer), an offensive rebound, a New York turnover, or simply a defensive stop, the Heat have been a step ahead. To the Knicks’ credit, the final score in Game 4 did look a lot better than Saturday’s blowout, but the outcome of the game was never really in doubt.
Before we get to Game 5 on Wednesday there is a lot to think through and consider, so what can we expect in an elimination game? Now’s the time to jump into our Heat vs. Knicks predictions with the odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Miami Heat vs. New York Knicks: Injury Report for Game 5
Based on the way this series began, things have gotten a lot cleaner from an injury perspective for both teams. From the Miami perspective, things could have really gotten bad after Jimmy Butler sprained his ankle in Game 1, but the Heat remained unscathed. Butler remained on the court for the remainder of the game as a decoy and the Knicks, for some odd reason, failed to target him.
After sitting out Game 2, a Miami loss, Butler returned for each of the next two games and led the Heat to two victories without ankle issues.
Each of the Knicks’ best players in Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson have also dealt with injuries, Randle’s ankle being more serious, but each appear to have been past that. Before fouling out, Randle had a solid 20-point, nine-rebound performance, while Brunson attempted to carry the Knicks by scoring 32 points to go along with 11 assists.
While each player is clear, and Quentin Grimes has also returned to the starting lineup while finding his shot after dealing with a shoulder injury, which is a good development for the Knicks considering Immanuel Quickley will likely be sidelined once again in Game 5 with a shoulder injury while the Heat continue to be without Tyler Herro.
Heat vs. Knicks Game 5 Predictions
There is no longer a tomorrow for the Knicks. Game 5 is it as New York is now in the position that forces them to win three straight games in order to survive, and it is reasonable to have doubts. While the Knicks only lost by eight points, for the most part, things were never really that close as Miami was in control throughout the game.
The Knicks actually shot better from the field than Miami (49% to 47%) on Monday but there was a big difference in second-chance opportunities as the Heat attempted nine more shots from the field. Miami held large edges on the boards, 44 to 35 rebounds overall and 13 to eight with offensive rebounds, while also handing out seven more assists (28 to 21) which played a large role in the Heat extending their series lead.
Game 5 Picks & Best Bets for Heat vs. Knicks Featuring Heat +3
Returning home should embolden the Knicks to play with a little more fire than they have in the last two games, and to that point, they really do not have a choice. New York now has three must-win games in front of them, but in the last two, the Heat have not really been challenged or put into any tough situations.
Even if the Knicks do bounce back and emerge victorious, it will be an uphill battle as the expectation is that we will be looking at a closely contested game that likely will go down to the final possession. At the same point, it is possible the Knicks are truly overmatched and if that is the case Miami will be victorious, but either way, taking the points with the underdog does provide an additional level of comfort.
