Lakers News: How Rival GMs Feel About LA's Summer Transactions
Los Angeles Lakers team president Rob Pelinka's tactical offseason maneuvering did not go unnoticed by his peers.
John Schuhmann of NBA.com took an exhaustive poll of the league's 30 general managers. Not everyone answered all 50 of Schuhmann's questions (and no one could vote for their own teams), but it does seem like the responses were pretty thorough nevertheless.
When asked which team made the best summer transactions, Pelinka and his front office earned some major love.
Although the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks' deft late-offseason point guard reconfigurations seemingly helped them earn the highest marks (Boston also added big man Kristaps Porzingis in an earlier trade), with them each receiving 23% of the vote, your Los Angeles Lakers finished fourth, notching 13% of the vote.
The Lakers re-signed key guards Austin Reaves and D'Angelo Russell and power forward Rui Hachimura, extended big men Anthony Davis and Jarred Vanderbilt, and added some exciting new additions in point guard Gabe Vincent, combo forward Taurean Prince, wing Cam Reddish, and big men Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes. It was a great combination of carrying over what worked from the team's excellent February trade deadline moves and also trying to enhance some of the team's big needs (more shooting and defense along the perimeter, which the Vincent and Prince signings addressed most, plus more floor spacing in the frontcourt, which the Wood signing ostensibly helps).
