Lakers News: How To Watch Kobe Bryant Statue Ceremony Thursday

Kobe Bryant's statue will be unveiled Thursday.

Yours Los Angeles Lakers are officially unveiling Kobe Bryant's statue this Thursday, February 8th as the team hosts the Denver Nuggets.

The unveiling of the statue will take place prior to the game at Star Plaza outside of Crypto.com Arena. The coverage of the ceremony starts at 3 p.m. PT, and will be airing live on Spectrum SportsNet and Spectrum SportsNet+. The ceremony will also be available for viewing afterwards on Lakers.com, via NBA Communications.

The date of the ceremony, 2/8/24, pays special tribute to Kobe and his daughter Gianna, who both died in a tragic helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. The numbers "8" and "24" represent the numbers Kobe wore during his career, while "2" pays tribute to the number Gianna wore.

The Lakers will also celebrate and honor Bryant following the ceremony when they wear the Black Mamba uniforms that Kobe helped design versus the Nuggets.

Kobe Bryant will officially become the seventh Laker to receive a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena, after Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O'Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West and broadcaster Chick Hearn. The ceremony will surely be a special occasion for the Bryant family, Lakers organization and their fans.
