Lakers Won't Be Adding This All-Star Swingman, Who'll Stay With Current Club

He stays in the Midwest!

As the offseason started, many questioned whether the Lakers would actually prioritize continuity as they talked about or if they would go big-game hunting as the organization has in the past. The Lakers did indeed go with continuity as they brought back much of their core from last season that saw the franchise make it to the Western Conference Finals. However, this didn't stop them from being linked to All-Star level players such as Khris Middleton from the Milwaukee Bucks.

In late April, the Lakers were being linked to the Bucks small forward by Heavy.com.

"According to the latest odds from Sportsbetting.ag, the Lakers have the fourth-best odds (+500) to acquire Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton."

Per Heavy.com

Ultimately the Lakers were never really going to chase after Middleton despite the fit with the team being nice. Middleton re-signed with the Bucks on a hefty deal to keep him in Milwaukee for the next few seasons.

Middleton dealt with injury issues all of last season but in the 33 games that he did manage to play, he averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. The former NBA champion stays with the Bucks and will look to help them grab another title before his tenure is done there.

The Lakers choice to go with continuity rather than star hunting shows the growth of this organization and was the smarter choice rather than depleting the depth they had and adding into another large salary.
