LeBron-Less Lakers Falls to Warriors, Break Three-Game Win Streak
With LeBron James out due to an ankle injury, the Los Angeles Lakers fell 128-110 to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.
This loss broke a three-game winning streak for the Lakers, as they could not keep up with the Warriors in the second half.
The majority of the first half was a close game between the two teams, but the Warriors pulled away in the second quarter to take a 67-56 halftime lead. After the half, the Warriors would not relinquish the lead and went on to earn a relatively easy victory.
This was far from as exciting a matchup as the last time these two teams faced off. In that game, which many consider the best of the season, the Lakers won a tight 145-44 overtime battle. Of course, having LeBron then helped.
Per usual on the Warriors' side, Steph Curry led the way. He scored 32 points and eight assists, including 25 points in the first half. Andrew Wiggins finished second with 20 points, three rebounds and two assists, and the rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis shined with 17 points, five rebounds and one assist.
For the Lakers, Anthony Davis led the team in scoring with 27 points, 15 rebounds and one assist. D'Angelo Russell followed with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Lakers will get a shot at the rematch against the Warriors on March 16 and April 9. Both of those matchups will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This should hopefully give the Lakers an edge, especially if James is back healthy for those two games.
