Vince Carter and Jacque Vaughn show mutual admiration for each other

In his first game as a broadcaster for the Brooklyn Nets on YES Network, Vince Carter drew plenty of attention. This includes head coach Jacque Vaughn, who was not only a friend of Carter's but also a close friend when they were teammates.
In the mid-2000s, they both played for the New Jersey Nets, forming a bond that now translates into a genuine appreciation, especially evident during Vince's first gig as a color commentator.
"I'm a take that, he is one of my favorite teammates. I don't do the comparison thing, but I'll throw him in my top five all-time teammates. An unbelievable human being, love to have him around, and boy was he a heck of a player," Vaughn said in his post-game presser.
A nice reunion for the Nets organization
With Vaughn holding the head coach position for the Nets, he is continuing his relationship with the organization. That is now true for Vince, who also left in the late 2000s to join the Orlando Magic. However, he still has a special connection with the Nets even if they did move to Brooklyn from the familiar New Jersey.
Vince's position as a commentator will only happen a few times this season, but it's a breath of fresh air for the fans as they get a throwback to the mid-2000s with both Vaughn and Carter.
"Not a household name, but at the same time, this guy (Vaughn) played hard, this guy was about winning and doing it the right way," Vince said during the broadcast.
A co-sign from Vince validates Vaughn
While he has been a long-serving head coach in the NBA now, Vaughn still has some critics within the Nets fan base. However, getting the support and co-sign from Carter should calm some of those fans down because he trusts the head coach's vision for the team.
This Nets team is fun to watch, with competitive players all over the roster. They are headlined by a hard-working Mikal Bridges, who is elite on both sides of the floor, and the team looks exciting again, just like the days when Carter and Vaughn were playing together.
