Nikola Jokic Makes NBA History vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Nikola Jokic continues to make NBA history

The Denver Nuggets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon, and superstar center Nikola Jokic made NBA history again. With 26 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists, Jokic joined Oscar Robertson as the only other player in NBA history to record that line or better in a game, per Basketball Reference's StatHead.

Jokic is on the short list of MVP candidates this season, and could certainly win the award for the third time in his career. Performances like this certainly strengthen Jokic's case for MVP, and if the Nuggets are able to secure the first seed in the Western Conference, that case will be hard to ignore.

The battle for the top seed in the Western Conference has been a great one this season, with the Nuggets, OKC Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves all in the running. With their win on Sunday afternoon, Denver pulled within just percentage points of both OKC and Minnesota.

Looking to defend their title, the Nuggets are trying to find the balance between finishing the regular season strong, maximizing seeding, and also being healthy for the postseason. Both Jokic and his co-star Jamal Murray have been dealing with different injuries, so the Nuggets will have to make sure they keep their two best players fresh down the stretch.

With another monster game, Jokic made history vs. Cleveland.
