Pistons Defeat Hawks, Win Third In A Row
It was a back and forth game with 30 lead changes, but in the end the Pistons edged out the Hawks, 113-110 in overtime.
Killian Hayes does it all
There have been some inconsistent performances by Killian Hayes, but isn't that typical for a 20-year old, second-year player playing for a bad team? It's definitely too early to write off the young point guard and tonight's performance proves that. Hayes logged nearly 31 minutes and played almost the entire fourth quarter and overtime. He finished with 13 points, four rebounds and six assists. The youngster has recently shown flashes of being a really good point guard and is clearly earning the respect of his coaches and teammates.
Marvin Bagley III steps up
In the second quarter, starting center Isaiah Stewart got his right leg rolled up on causing him to miss the rest of the game with a sprained knee. Marvin Bagley III started the second half for him and didn't miss a beat. The big fella finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the impressive double-double performance. I've been saying that Bagley should be starting since he arrived in Detroit and tonight's efforts support that.
Cade Cunningham shines late
The No. 1 overall pick is the REAL DEAL. Head coach Dwane Casey talked about Cunningham having the "it" factor and he showed that off down the stretch on Monday night. Cunningham finished with 28 points, 10 assists and six boards in the win and he got seven of those big points in OT. He hit at least one clutch three-pointer, dished off at the right times for his teammates to hit a couple big shots and obviously got his own as well. Cunningham now has six games with 25 points, five assists and five rebounds — all other rookies have three combined. Cunningham has now totaled 815 points, 289 rebounds and 255 assists in 50 career games, joining Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Alvan Adams, Ben Simmons and Luka Doncic as the only players to reach such minimums through 50 games in NBA history. Not bad company.
