Did Magic's Banchero Travel vs. Pistons? NBA Reviews Call
On Saturday night, the Detroit Pistons were in a nail-biting matchup with the Orlando Magic. Following what some considered a questionable play, the NBA's two-minute report dove into the game's biggest moment.
With 12 seconds to go in the game, the score was all tied up at 109. The Magic had possession, and got the ball in the hands of Paolo Banchero. The former No. 1 pick proceeded to size up Jalen Duren before getting a baseline shot to fall with under a second left. However, Bachero looks like he might have traveled as his feet shuffled before the shot. The officials did not call anything in the moment, and the Pistons ended up losing by three.
The next day, the NBA released its two-minute report for the game. It stuck with the initial ruling, that Banchero did not travel. The report states he came to a legal jump stop before rising up to shoot over Duren.
Banchero struggled for most of the game, but still managed to come up big when it mattered. The All-Star forward finished with 15 points on 29.4% shooting to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
For the Pistons, Cade Cunningham continued his impressive play out of the break against the Magic. He notched a team-high 24 points along with seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
Duren was also a key standout for Detroit, finishing with a double-double. The young center recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds to go with four blocks. New additions Simone Fontecchio (17 points, five assists) and Evan Fournier (13 points) also provided a boost.
Following this heartbreaking loss to the Magic, the Pistons now much prepare to face off against Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
