Jalen Duren Opens up on Growing Chemistry With Pistons Star Cade Cunningham
Since he missed most of last season due to a knee injury, Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren didn't get to play much last season. With an extended opportunity to share the floor this year, the two are life as teammates.
Following the Pistons' win over the Charlotte Hornets, Duren touched on his chemistry with Cunningham. He applauded him for his ability to do it all every night, and cited that he makes the games simpler for him.
"Pretty good, I’d say. I said before, playing with a guy like that makes the game way simpler, for me, for the team, for the offense. He gets it done every night," Duren said.
Along with his ability to put up big scoring numbers, Cunningham is also a strong facilitator. His ability to read the floor not only makes the offensive end easier for Duren, but the rest of the Pistons as well.
Seeing that they are two key pieces of the team's core, the Pistons should like to hear quotes like this. Especially coming from players at these specific positions. As Detroit's big man of the future, he's also Cunningham's partner in the pick-and-roll. For this to function at its best, the pair needs to be on the same page.
In just his second season, Duren is already making good strides in his development. He joined historic company earlier this week, and is averaging a double-double on the year (13.8 PPG, 11.7 RPG).
As for Cunningham, he continues to be one of the league's top performers since the All-Star break. Over his last 10 games, the former No. 1 pick is posting averages of 25.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and 7.9 RPG.
