Pistons Coach Praises Cade Cunningham Following Big Outing vs Pacers

Monty Williams had high praise for Cade Cunningham after strong performance vs Pacers.

On Thursday night, the Detroit Pistons were back in action following the All-Star break. First up in their final stretch of the regular season was a meeting with Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers

In the end, the Pacers ended up securing a 129-115 victory. However, there was one key standout for the Pistons. That being Cade Cunningham, who finished with 30 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. It was an efficient night for the former No. 1 pick as he shot 61.9% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.

After the game, Pistons coach Monty Williams touched on the performance from his starting point guard. He could tell right away that Cunningham got a good amount of work in during the break this week.

"For him to have 30 points in 30 minutes, it says a lot about what he did over All-Star break," Williams said. "He stayed in shape, and he's one of the guys that when I look at all of our guys coming back from the break, he's one of the guys I can tell got work in over All-Star break."

Thursday marked the 12th time this season that Cunningham posted 30 or more points. His season high currently sits at 43 points, which came back in December against the Atlanta Hawks

Cunningham missed most of last season due to injury, but has still managed to put together a stellar campaign in 2024. In 45 games this season, the 22 year old is averaging 22.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 7.5 APG.

Following their loss to the Pacers, Cunningham and the Pistons will be back in action Saturday against Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic
