NBA Power Rankings: Rockets Dropping After Loss vs. Wolves?

The Houston Rockets went 1-2 over the past week. Where does that put them in this week's power rankings?

The Houston Rockets have struggled this past week, falling to the New Orleans Pelicans at home and the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road.

However, a win against the Toronto Raptors was sandwiched in between those losses. Without that victory, the Rockets would possibly be in freefall. However, that win wasn't enough to save the Rockets from dropping in CBS Sports' power rankings. The team now sits at No. 21 after placing at No. 18 a week ago.

"The Rockets struggled to score in losses to the Pelicans and Wolves this week, but also dropped 135 points in a win over the Raptors," CBS Sports writes. "Not sure we expected to say this in 2023-24, but rookie Cam Whitmore led the team in scoring this week with nearly 19 points per game. Fellow rookie Amen Thompson put up 12 points and seven rebounds per game on 58% shooting."

The Rockets have struggled mightily on the road this season, winning just five of their 22 games away from Toyota Center. If they want to move up in the power rankings, they will have to figure out a way to win away from Houston.

Their road trip continues tonight against the Indiana Pacers before the team faces a back-to-back on Friday against the Toronto Raptors and Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Houston returns home on Monday to play against the New York Knicks, one of the league's hottest teams as of late.
