San Antonio Spurs Fight Hard, But Fall Short vs. Golden State Warriors

The San Antonio Spurs are back in the loss column after a 117-113 defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night inside the Frost Bank Center.

While the Spurs built a lead in the first quarter and stretched it to as much as 13 points, the Warriors stuck around and flipped the tables on San Antonio. Early in the second half, the Warriors pulled ahead and built a 13-point lead of their own.

The Spurs tried their best to grab the lead back and even pulled to within two points with less than a minute to go. However, that was the closest they ever got in their attempt to steal one from the Warriors.

Stephen Curry led all scorers with 33 points while Victor Wembanyama was just a hair behind with 32. Six Spurs scored in double figures, including 18 from Cedi Osman, who joined the starting lineup as Jeremy Sochan sat with an ankle injury.

The Spurs have just seven games left in their season, a stretch which begins Tuesday against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on the road. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT.
