PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns have experienced quite the range of emotions this past week.
After dropping what was considered their most winnable game remaining on the schedule in San Antonio on Monday, the Suns rebounded against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Wednesday with a crucial win.
Friday night provided an opportunity to continue that hot form against an Oklahoma City Thunder squad without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the fold.
True to form, the Suns couldn't capitalize like they should have.
Phoenix's 128-103 loss to the Thunder could be categorized as anything but impressive, and Kevin Durant touched on a few talking points following the game (h/t Clutch Points' Trevor Booth to transcriptions, The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin for video):
"You move forward. I mean, just move forward. Look in the mirror and tell myself to be better and try to work on the points of emphasis that coach wants us to work on. I try to look at myself as much as I can and figure out how I can be even better for the group," said Durant after the loss.
"I think everybody on our team thinks like that, because that's -- when we have tough games, we bounce back well. So guys dig down deep and look in the mirror and figure it out. That's just the name of our season this year, and sometimes we just got to deal with that. Keep grinding."
Durant when asked about the team being erratic this season:
"I wish I could tell you about the inconsistencies and it's a lot of times, we don't make shots. So some nights, at times, we foul too much. It's the subtleties of the game that can turn the game for you, and the small parts of the game sometimes you overlook and it might come back to bite us," he said.
"But we see where we are when we're at our best, and we see where we are when we're at our worst. And sometimes, it's good to evaluate both sides and figure out who you are. I know it's the end of the season, but you can never stop searching to be better as a group and as an individual."
The Suns return to action on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
