With the All-Star break being a thing of the past, the NBA is in the latter half of the season. For the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team has 28 games remaining in the regular season.

As things begin to wind down in the NBA season, award winners and candidates are beginning to become more and more clear, which is a scene that looks much different from the start of the regular season.

Evidently, Thunder forward Jalen Williams wasn't under much consideration for the Most Improved Player award. Josh Giddey was set up in more of a position to win the award and had more buzz around winning the award.

As the season is hitting the final stretch, Williams is beginning to look like a stronger and stronger candidate to win the award. Over the past 25 games, Williams has averaged 21.2 points, 5.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game.

As the season progresses, Williams continues to show more and more star potential, and that's beginning to reflect in his betting odds. He opened up with +4000 odds to win the Most Improved Player award. Currently, he holds +1600 odds to win the award, and those numbers keep moving in favor of him, according to FanDuel.

When the season ends, if the Thunder is still a top-three seed in the Western Conference, it'll be hard to leave the team out of the major awards, which could also include Most Improved Player, Rookie of the Year or even Coach of the Year.

Williams' case doesn't just include the numbers, either. He's the second-best player on one of the top teams in a tougher conference. When Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hits the bench, Williams becomes the top option. He's bordering All-Star-level play as the second option and projects to be an All-Star in the near future.

One thing that will be interesting to watch as the season gets closer and closer to finishing is where his odds of winning the award will end up. Gilgeous-Alexander should be an MVP finalist. The same goes for Chet Holmgren and ROTY and Mark Daigneault with COTY. Williams being a finalist for the MIP would be four different Thunders being finalists across four awards.
