NBA Stars Speak Highly of Oklahoma City's Duo in Indianapolis

Oklahoma City's young squad has been receiving praise all week during the All Star festivities.

Oklahoma City is well represented in Indianapolis for All Star weekend, and for good reason. The Thunder entered the break with a 37-17 record and second place in the Western Conference. The young core is ascending to new heights, and there's really no ceiling on this team.

Of course, the addition of Chet Holmgren has changed the trajectory of this squad, giving them a real post presence and a defensive anchor. He has been better than anyone expected. But the two stars on this team have been Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a lead MVP candidate, and Jalen Williams who has been a fringe All Star.

SGA and Williams have formed a dynamic duo and compliment eachother so well. They seem to get more comfortable with every game and know when to defer to the other. The chemistry is only growing, and that should be a scary sight for the rest of the league.

At All Star week, the pair has been the topic of a lot of conversations. The praise received has been unanimous from peers around the NBA.

“Maybe Shai," Anthony Davis answered when asked who deserves more praise. "I mean he gets talked about but maybe not to the extent that he should. They’re playing great basketball, OKC is playing great basketball. He’s obviously leading the charge.

"What he’s doing for that organization, that team, the amount of success they’re having over the last couple of years, I think he should be recognized a little bit more.”

Immediately after Davis' compliments to Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards added to the Oklahoma City praise. The Thunder and Wolves have formed a bit of a rivalry this season, so praise from someone in the division was a big deal. He didn't say anything about Gilgeous-Alexander, however, but shouted out the Thunder's other rising star.

“The most underrated player in the league, let me think," Edwards said. "Jalen Williams from OKC."

Oklahoma City is clearly headed in the right direction and has a chance to do something special this season. Praise from media and NBA players should further affirm that sentiment.
