BREAKING: Warriors Make Shocking Chris Paul for Jordan Poole Trade
Everyone expected Chris Paul to join a California NBA team if he was traded from the Washington Wizards, but no one expected him to be joining the Golden State Warriors.
According to multiple reports from both Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski, Chris Paul is being traded from the Washington Wizards to the Golden State Warriors. The trade will be Chris Paul for Jordan Poole, a protected first-round pick in 2030, a second-rounder in 2027, and Ryan Rollins.
It's a truly unexpected move, especially because most expected it was a foregone conclusion that Paul was going to join the LA Clippers. A backcourt of both Chris Paul and Steph Curry is one that very few expected, but he'll definitely do a great job at stabilizing units without Steph Curry.
What's even more shocking is that just three days ago, Warriors GM Mike Dunleavey made it sound like Jordan Poole was going to be with the team for a long time.
"We love having those guys," Dunleavey said. "Jordan, especially, with his contract extension, we plan to have him here for four more years at least."
The NBA business seems to move much quicker and colder than anyone could realize. Chris Paul didn't expect to get traded from the Phoenix Suns, and Jordan Poole likely didn't expect to get traded from the Golden State Warriors. Regardless of how last year ended, he was still crucial in helping bring the team an NBA Championship in 2022.
