Steve Kerr Admits Big Mistake in Loss to Kings
The Golden State Warriors fell to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night in a game they led by as many as 24 points. While Golden State should have done a much better job of holding that lead, starting with their veterans, there was a questionable decision by Steve Kerr that many felt was the wrong move.
Going away from Moses Moody down the stretch, who was a perfect 4/4 from the field, Kerr opted for his veterans to close this game instead of the red hot Moody. When asked about this decision after the game, Kerr said, "Moses was awesome tonight. We needed to get [Andrew Wiggins] on the floor for defense against Fox, and we decided to go with Klay [Thompson] and our vets. We thought about keeping him out there, but we made the move that we made."
While that was Kerr's explanation during his postgame press conference, the Warriors head coach has since admitted that was the wrong call, saying on the Willard and Dibs show, "I didn’t have my best game as a coach… Should’ve left Moses in the game… Watching the tape over again that was a really terrible decision."
Admitting this big mistake, Kerr said he should have left Moody in the game. Having admitted this, it will be interesting to see if Kerr gives Moody more minutes going forward.
