Warriors Give Honest Answer on Andrew Wiggins Minutes Restriction
Warriors fans all collectively exhaled a collective sigh of relief when they heard Andrew Wiggins was back for the NBA Playoffs. Once that question was answered though, the next question in the minds of everyone is how long would he play?
It turns out, no one is really sure just yet if Andrew Wiggins has a minutes restriction entering the playoffs. Steve Kerr was asked about Wiggins' minutes after such a long hiatus, and he gave a very candid answer.
“On one hand, Wiggs is one of those guys who doesn’t seem to fall out of shape," Kerr said. "On the other hand, he hasn’t played in 10 weeks.”
Shams Charania also previously reported that the Warriors would play Wiggins for 20-25 minutes. The long-term success of the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs heavily depends on the availability of Andrew Wiggins. This team does not win an NBA Championship last season without Wiggins, and will not win one this season without him. In the short term against the Sacramento Kings, the Warriors can survive without him playing heavy minutes. As the postseason continues though, and defense becomes more important, Wiggins will definitely be needed.
The Warriors have struggled defensively all season, but that's not what's going to be on display against the Sacramento Kings. That first-round matchup will likely be one of the highest offensively powered playoff matches in NBA history, and it should be a blast to watch.
