On Sunday 9/10, we should be in for a classic. Below, we’re excited to break down our 49ers vs. Steelers predictions. San Francisco and Pittsburgh possess two of the most passionate fan bases in football, and both of these teams come into the season with playoff hopes. The 49ers are coming off a strong season in which they made it all the way to the NFC championship, thanks to Brock Purdy’s immediate impact. He proved that he’s cool under pressure and no moment is too big for him. Sure, they may have lost 31-7 to the Eagles, but the Niners were competitive for most of the game until Purdy went out and Philadelphia pulled away. 

This game left a sour taste in the mouths of 49ers fans, as this was probably the best chance they’d had to win a ring in years. Luckily, the 49ers return an almost identical team this year, and the Steelers are a great test in Week 1. Pittsburgh is noticeably more optimistic this season, and they seem prepared to make a playoff push. However, this season may not start on the highest of notes for the Steel City.

Diontae Johnson complements him well, despite the fact that he didn’t find the end zone once last year. 

Now, when it comes to defense, this Steelers team needs T.J Watt. He has such a drastic impact when he’s on the field, and is arguably the best defensive player in football. The question is if Pittsburgh has enough talent around him to stop this 49ers explosive offense.

With all of this being said, we believe that the 49ers simply have the better team in this matchup on both sides of the ball. More experienced playmakers, a better defense and great leadership makes San Fran a terrifying opponent in week one for Pittsburgh.
