Giants vs. 49ers Prediction, Best Bets, Lineups & Odds for 9/21

USATSI_21444390

As Week 2 of the NFL season has come to a close after some highly entertaining games, we’re looking forward to Week 3. This week will kick off on Thursday Night Football, with an NFC battle between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. Both teams are coming off wins on Sunday, as the Giants moved to 1-1, and the Niners went to 2-0. The Giants made a spectacular comeback, as they were once trailing the Cardinals 28-7. Daniel Jones led an unbelievable offensive surge to win the game 31-28 on a game winning field goal.

This win was certainly impressive for a Giants team that was looking downright awful. However, their opponent is much tougher this week, and the 49ers have pretty much everything going for them early on this year. Brock Purdy currently leads the league in QBR, and running back Cristian Mccaffrey still appears to be in his prime form.

San Fran was tested a bit on Sunday by Matthew Stafford and the Rams, but with their explosive offense and solid defense, they were able to prevail somewhat comfortably. New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction for NFL Week 3 on Thursday, 9/21

On Thursday night, we’re in for a fun matchup between two solid teams with young, talented quarterbacks. Right when it looked like the Giants were headed for an 0-2 start, they shocked the world with one of the better second-half comebacks we’ve seen in a long time. Daniel Jones went off for two passing touchdowns and one rushing, as well as throwing for 321 yards on 26/37 through the air. He also rushed for an impressive 59 yards in the comeback victory over Arizona.

Jalin Hyatt was impressive on the receiving end for New York, racking up 89 yards on only two receptions, while Darren Waller proved to be an important addition with his 76 yards. The Giants certainly look decent on paper, despite how they started the season. Defensively, they still looked vulnerable, however, giving up 151 rushing yards and 228 receiving yards. This won’t get the job done against the 49ers, who have a balanced attack offensively.

When it comes to the 49ers offense, they’ve been super-efficient thus far. Brock Purdy has been fantastic at managing the offense, and this showed in their win this past week. McCaffrey ran for 116 yards and a touchdown, as he completely took over the game. Deebo Samuel and Purdy also scored rushing touchdowns to power the Niners to victory. Between McCaffrey, Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, the 49ers simply have a boatload of options on offense.

We predict that the 49ers will be able to take advantage of a Giants defense that’s looked a bit soft from the sample size we have. The star power on this San Francisco offense should be too much for the G men defense to handle, and if the Niners take care of the ball they could easily win this game by multiple scores. Below, we will break down our Giants vs. 49ers prediction and odds.

Giants vs. 49ers Picks Including 49ers -9.5

As stated, we believe the 49ers have the firepower to win this game and cover the spread of -9.5 (-125) at FanDuel Sportsbook. We normally would advise against purchasing a half point, but in this scenario, it makes sense. This feels like a game that the 49ers could win by exactly 10, and -125 isn’t too steep of a price to pay for this line. To find the -9.5 spread on FanDuel, just look for the “alternate spread” section and scroll down to make your selection. If you don’t want to buy the half point, we would still recommend taking San Francisco -10 at -115.

49ers Injury Report Entering Week 3

We detailed our Giants vs. 49ers prediction, but how about San Fran’s injuries? The 49ers don’t have many injuries to report on at the moment. The main focus is on Brandon Aiyuk, who was dealing with a shoulder injury Sunday, which caused him to miss some snaps. Aiyuk will likely rest up and still play on Thursday Night. Also, cornerback Ambry Thomas has been limited in practice with a minor knee injury. Otherwise, the 49ers are very healthy at the moment, and they’ll be ready to go on Thursday Night Football.
